Welcome to the website of

H. Eric Hartman, *art-man*, a sight-impaired artist from New Orleans. Self-taught, Eric worked for 10 years as a papier mache' sculptor achieving first regional and then national recognition for his work. In recent years, he has set aside his sculpture tools and turned his artistic endeavors to a new direction, impressionist oil paintings. If there's sun out, then Eric grabs his backpack loaded with everything necessary for a day of Plein Air painting.

Whether it is a new landscape painting, a whimsical sculpture of a New Orleans musician or in a Mardi Gras Float, Eric's unique vision, sense of composition and joy for life shines through.

ARTMAN IS PUBLISHED!

I just received a copy of the newest book on Painting Impressionist Color by Lois Griffel and I am honored to say one of my works was chosen to be included in the book.  Having long since developed the habit of picking up books on painting to seek inspiration for my own work, it's rather surreal to open a book and turn a page to see one of my own paintings, "Stroll to the Bridges, City Park" !  Even more humbling was to read the author's description "... This lovely painting has a great deal of color richness.  The contrast of the Golden lights begins to cool violets and blue embodies Impressionist color… "  Wow!  That is pretty darn cool!
